Far Cry 4: Skidrow Patch Released – FOV no Longer an Issue

FC4_screen_paganmin_pen_e3_140609_8pmPST_1402224699.0.0

Did you know, Far Cry 4 has disabled FOV commands for pirated copies? A bold move, and a smart one. However – it seems that the popular game crackers commonly known as ‘Skidrow’ have embarrassed Ubisoft, patching their version of the popular release to include options for players to adjust their FOV as they see fit.

Just a mere few days have passed since Alex Hutchinson proudly announced on twitter of Ubisoft’s anti-hacker triumph, Skidrow have gotten the upper hand. What has changed? We’ve heard mixed reports. It’s either due to Ubisoft’s latest 1.4.0 patch creating a loophole for the hackers to get past the FOV implications, or it’s that Skidrow have looked into the original code of the game and have found a way around Ubisofts original defenses.

More to come as the story develops, stay tuned to eTeknix.com and our Facebook page.

    1. Did you realise there’s a difference privacy and piracy? Anyway they are providing news articles, not condoning or supporting piracy.

    1. If anything it helps sales. The people who are getting it for free and playing it all the way through never had any intention of buying it. People who pirate it and play a bit to check out stability, gameplay etc often wind up buying it. I don’t buy games without trying them first. They used to be called “Demos” but I nobody does that anymore.

    2. And what’s wrong with piracy, exactly? xD It has been proven times after times that the developers don’t lose on piracy. Piracy actually HELPS sales. Supporting piracy is better than supporting ‘tyrannical-and-nonsensical-laws-created-because-of-companies-that-are-greedy-as-fuck’ in my opinion 😛

  1. Wow people are broke ass bitches for pirating this… This screws it up for the real gamers, those of us who pay for our games and support their development. If every one was going to pay for this game they could have increased the budget and made it even better

    1. Wow, you’re pretty dim, aren’t you? So “real gamers” blindly support any game, despite the developers shady track record of late? Increased the budget and made it better? No, once the game is made, not much else goes into development to make it better. Other than patches. But I guess idiots like yourself would happily start paying for patches too. Cry all you want about piracy, personally I like to see how a game is before I buy it. I did the same thing with AC4 – bought it, FarCry 3 bought it…Watchdogs – didn’t buy it. If FarCry 4 lives up to my standards then I’ll buy it too. If not, I won’t play the pirated copy and I’ll delete it. Tell me how that’s wrong?

      1. As much as i totally agree with you and what you’re saying, the other side of the argument is “You don’t walk into a supermarket and try all the food before you buy it so why should games be any different?” I think the fact Demos seem to never be released for games nowadays is a huge mistake, if there were playable demos for games then pirating wouldn’t be such a huge issue.

        1. The difference being, I can touch, smell and tell whether or not something is fresh or rotten at the grocery. And if you shop somewhere like Costco, you can always return it if you have a complaint.

With the way Ubisoft has been treating gamers lately, I honestly can’t blame anyone for wanting to test the games first. Why throw away your money on a developer that thinks 30fps is good enough, resolution doesn’t matter and continually releases games that are broken and over-hyped?

        2. If I could go into that store and make a copy of the original apple, Yep, I’d eat it and not feel a tiny bit bad. Don’t be silly. Pirates dont copy games because they don’t have demos – we pirate games because we want free stuff. I make no excuses. I want to make and own a copy of the full game and thus I do it happily because it’s possible to make that copy.

    2. You support some of the worst PC ports ever made, from a company that puts out Bullshit statements and downgrades it games in the name of “platform parity” shame on you I have zero interest in any of Ubisoft’s games and if I did then I’d pirate the hell out of it,Ubisoft is 1 company that deserves to go bankrupt.

    3. Yeah, I pirate all my games because they doubled the price in a few
years – used to be all games were 29,99 but at 60 they can keep the
garbage they call games now a days. If you wanna toss your money away
thats your business but I’m not doing it. “if they increased the budget”
LOL.. I guess you are willing to pay 80 dollars a game now – cus that’s
what will happen if they used a bigger budget. Yep.. I have pirated all my games for the last 5 years and I dont care about
stupid people who think me making a Copy is stealing – it isn’t. if devs
dont want games copied they should not release games in a format thats
copyable – thus they are giving me permission to copy the game.

  2. I’m pretty sure the latest patch is 1.0.3 not 1.4.0. Also the pirates got to play Far cry 4 from November 15 and the fix was released on November 17. The official game release date is November 18th, so the FOV/anti pirate fix was actually fixed before the game was officially released. Just idiotic pirates don’t look for patches.

(Do correct me if my dates are off, Pirate dates from skidrow site and far cry release picked up from wiki/other sites)

  3. I don’t think Ubisoft actually disabled FOV in pirated versions, its just that the day one patch added the FOV slider, and pirates had it before day 1, so they need to update.

  4. The only reason why Ubisoft did this is to expose how many pirates there are on PC. If this game won’t do good on PC because everyone just hacks it just wait and watch Far Cry 5 being console exclusive.
