Fifa 18 Fans Urge Boycott of Black Friday In-Game Purchases

Fifa 18 fans urge gamers to resist any in-game Black Friday deals with #FixFifa

Black Friday is upon us and as such business is trying very hard to part us with our hard earned money. Gaming companies are certainly no different.

Following the absolute fiasco of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 and microtransactions, EA had to issue a swift retraction of them. This has prompted fans of the football franchise to also take on EA with a simple hashtag #FixFifa.

The group has taken offense at the number of issues which they feel are currently plaguing the game. These include glitches, unbalanced play, gameplay cheats/exploits and probable scripting from some quarters.

In a report via Polygon, the offer of microtransactions deals over Black-Friday has pushed the fans over the edge. A Fifa protest group has launched creating a petition which at present has over 23,000 signatures.

Their demand of EA is simple, before pushing microtransactions, try fixing the game.

Do they have a point?

The Fifa Football community is very strong. With a franchise which sees a release every year, this is hardly surprising. Their patience, however, has grown thin in recent years with EA’s continuous emphasis on the pay-to-win microtransaction system. This is particularly seen in the competitive world of the online Ultimate Team feature.

With EA recently suggesting the possibility of scrapping annual releases in favor of DLC, fans would clearly seem to prefer them to fix it first.

It is exactly because of the unbalanced aspect that I don’t play Fifa Ultimate Team. When an honest person can grind a great team, a person with more money than sense can simply buy one. That hardly seems fair, but it sure does make EA a lot of money.

What do you think? Will the group have any impact? Are they right to protest this? Is Fifa 18 broken? – Let us know in the comments!
