Square Enix has announced that the release date of Final Fantasy XV has been delayed by two months in order to allow the developers to further polish the highly anticipated RPG. The game was slated for release on 30th September 2016, but has been pushed back to November.
“From the moment we joined this project, our vision was to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series. Regrettably, we need a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this,” Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata said. “As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want Final Fantasy XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”
Tabata also addressed the change in more depth in the following video:
The game’s demo, the poorly-received Episode Duscae, was released over a year ago, and subsequent player feedback was being collected and incorporated into the game’s development.
Barring further delays, Final Fantasy XV is set to hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – with a PC version still under consideration – on 29th November, 2016. A tie-in movie, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, was released last month.
