The PlayStation 1 has had fantastic emulation on PC for many years now with the legendary ePSXe emulator, and so too has the PlayStation 2 with the PCSX2 emulator, which even allows you to play many classic PS2 games in 4K resolution! Now it seems it’s the turn of the PlayStation 3, as the rapidly growing capabilities of the RPCS3 become more apparent.
YouTuber “Predator” shared a video this week showing what is now believed to be the first game to be fully emulated using RPCS3. A few games have been running in the past, albeit not perfectly. As you can see in the video below, Dead Space Extraction is running very nicely. There are some performance issues, but that’s not to say the emulation of the game is at fault, as the game looks pretty stable.
With previous PlayStation consoles already having solid emulation on PC, it seems like we’re just coming into the prime of running PS3 games on PC. Of course, you can expect to need a pretty powerful system to even consider running games that are graphically intensive, and it’ll also take a while for more games to be supported.
Check out the video below where the game was running on an Intel Core i7 4790K and GTX 970.
