Three days ago, we could tell you about a lucky Redditor who got his hands on AMDs yet unreleased Ryzen 5 1600 CPU. Now the same user has shared his first benchmarks online with the stock settings and with some overclocking too.
The motherboard he got to go with the CPU is the MSI TomaHawk B350 and that did set some limitations for the user. We all know about AMD Ryzen and memory by now and that was affecting this user too. While it was easy to overclock the processor, he wasn’t able to clock the memory past 2133 MHz despite it being 3200 modules.
Besides the AMD Ryzen R5 1600 6-core 12-thread CPU with a 3.2 to 3.6GHz clock speed, he used an MSI RX 470 graphics card and two Corsair Vengeance LED 3200 MHz memory.

The overclock was mild and the user achieved an OC to 3.7 GHz at 1.2 Vcore. It was stability tested with 3 hours of Prime95 to make sure that it runs as it should.
As we see, the OC scores aren’t that impressive here, but a lot of that can be attributed to the slow memory speed. And while that is true, we still see quite the monster of a CPU. Six cores and twelve threads for a little over $200 delivering this kind of performance. That’s quite nice.
The Redditor also released a of couple in-game benchmarks from The Witcher 3 in high settings and Total War: Attila. These don’t come as screenshots, but actual in-game video of the two games. I’m sure that a lot of our readers are more interested in this than the above screenshots. So enjoy:
