First Ultrabook from Acer in September

We have been hearing a lot of publicity about the Ultrabook concept after Intel launched an advertising campaign just last week combined with a hefty $300 million fund to get the Ultrabook production going. It now appears that next month the first Ultrabooks will be available to buy from the manufacturer Acer. Despite Acer’s internal problems it would appear they are still on track to provide the first Ultrabook before ASUS and provide it at a much cheaper price.

Not much is known yet about the two Acer models due to be launched next month except they will be 13.3″ models and will be competing with the ASUS UX21 Ultrabook. Also in the revelations that Intel would not be reducing its CPU prices it is also expected that these Ultrabooks will not be cheap, the entry price is $769 all the way up to $960. Speculators are saying the Ultrabooks are likely to come with 250GB or 500GB hard drives or an optional 160GB SSD instead. If the Acer Aspire 3951 is anything to go by for what next months Ultrabooks will be like then connectivity will be abundant; Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, USB, WiFi and memory card readers.

No specific date in September has been given for the launch but it is more likely to be mid-late September than early September since the Acer Ultrabooks haven’t gone into mass production yet.
