I am not normally a gigantic fan Apple’s line of products (Although I do own a Macbook, an iPhone, and an iPod.). Nor, am I one to write about Apps for iOS devices. However, this morning I was delighted to find that one of my old standbys in digital music creation is being ported to the iPhone/iPad. As a DJ, and someone who creates music the opportunity to use a familiar and friendly interface is amazing and shows just what the iOS platform is good for. Currently there is an introductory sale period going for the apps, FL Studio Mobile HD for the iPad is $19.99 and the iPhone flavor is $15.00.
The few negative things I can find on these applications without a full review is that you can only use 99/128 possible tracks and there is a severe lack of VST instrument support (hardware limitation). The best thing I’ve read on this is that you can swap tracks between your desktop version of FL Studio and the Mobile app to create and edit on the run making this application a MUST for any serious user of FL Studio and Apple’s iOS devices.
Currently these apps are both in the iTunes store which you can find here “FL Studio Mobile HD” for iPad and “FL Studio Mobile” for the iPhone. I suggest even if you just want to play around to give it a shot. Expect a full review from me as soon as I can get my grubby little paws onto an iPad for more than an hour!
