It looks like Ubisoft’s upcoming game, For Honor, will enter a Closed Beta phase in January 2017. During this phase, those lucky enough to be invited will be able to explore and fight on the lands of Ashfeld, Valkenheim and Myre, and they will be able to test out the different fighting styles of the Vikings, Samurai and Knights. More importantly, once the game will be launched officially, all of its future DLC packs will be offered for free. The news was delivered by For Honor’s director Damien Kieken, who issued the following statement:
“So everything that’s matchmade [including] new modes and new maps, will be given for free to the players. We’ll also have other free content. We are a big team supporting the game after launch.”
Still, this doesn’t mean that For Honor won’t have its fair share of microtransactions, but the good part is that all content will be unlockable just by playing the game.
“On the monetisation side. The idea is that we allow players to buy more Steel. It’s just a shortcut. Everything is unlockable just by playing the game. And all shortcuts are tied to progression, so you can’t unlock an end-game item right away.”
Ubisoft also released four brand new trailers for the game, which you will be able to see below.
