It’s definitely not unusual for developers to move on from project to project at various companies, and it appears that this is exactly what former The Division director has done not too long ago. Apparently, Ryan Barnard, who was the director over at Ubisoft’s The Division MMORPG, has decided to move over to IO Interactive, which is the developer of Hitman. At a glance, the decision certainly makes sense, as his expertise with third-person based shooters is likely to come in handy over at IO Interactive. According to his LinkedIn page, Barnard left Ubisoft back in February, and he is now ready to join IO Interactive and take on the role of gameplay director.
According to Square Enix, Ryan will be responsible for overseeing three main teams named “online”, “world” and “gameplay”. Moreover, Square Enix’s representatives have issued the following statement:
“Ryan’s contributions to game design over the years show he’s the ideal person to spearhead the coming efforts. We are very happy to add his talent to the pool of great people working at IO.”
