Forza Motorsport: 6 APEX Beta is Racing Bliss!

Forza

The Forza Motorsport series’ superb physics, wonderful car models and expansive career mode has made it a popular choice among racing enthusiasts. Personally, I’ve always adored the Forza franchise and hoped Microsoft would eventually allow PC gamers to enjoy its winning formula. Thankfully, Microsoft’s new approach in unifying the Windows, Xbox and mobile brands helped bring Forza to the PC community. Microsoft has already clarified that all future Forza releases will come to PC players and decided to launch a free-to-play version of Forza 6 to showcase their commitment to the PC platform. Of course, releases on the company’s UWP haven’t been ideal and suffered from performance issues. However, the game’s developer stated:

“As a first-party Microsoft studio, Turn 10 is obsessed with performance in Forza games and, during the open beta for Apex, we will be working to improve the game’s performance across a diverse selection of hardware setups”

Please note, Forza Motorsport 6: APEX doesn’t currently support steering wheels or have a multiplayer component. However, this could change in time for the final release, and Turn 10 assured users that wheel support is being worked on:

“Wheel support is coming to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex and Turn 10 is busy working to ensure that Apex delivers the kind of wheel support, performance, and features that racing fans expect from a range of available hardware. In addition we plan to support additional features that we know are important to PC gamers, such as the ability to disable Vsync and an in-app framerate counter.”

This is vital because the PC racing scene is known to have incredible setups with high-end wheels, pedals and other equipment. As always, we will have a performance article up soon and it’s quite pertinent in this case due to the use of Microsoft’s latest API. It will be interesting to see if AMD continues their strong showing in DirectX 12 titles.

Windows 10 users can download the beta from here.
