Free-to-Play Quake Champions Premium Pricing Features Detailed

Quake Champions is almost here, and I’m sure many of you are eager to rip around a few arenas in this long awaited entry to the Quake franchise. The good news is that when the game does launch, it won’t cost you a penny, as the game will be free-to-play from launch. I generally hate F2P as it usually means pay-to-win, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

The game will feature a base champion called The Ranger, and that will be available to everyone, all maps will be available to everyone, and free players will be playing in the same brackets and ranking as paid players. So why bother paying at all? Simple, you can unlock more Champions!

You’ll be able to either purchase the Champions Pack to unlock all champions in one go forever, or you can rent individual ones for a period of time to suit your needs. Free, Champion Pack or rental champions, it doesn’t matter what you pick, you’ll be able to enjoy the full gaming experience as you see fit, and that’s simply awesome.

“At its core, it’s a free-to-play game, with the option to buy the Champion Pack and just get in and play with all the Champions. There are a number of Quake players that just want to play their Quake, right? And they are familiar with the business model of our previous games, and they are totally fine. ‘I want to buy the game. I want to start playing. I want to have access to all the Champions.’” said id Software’s Tim Willits to Polygon. “But then we also understand that we want to get as many people into the game as possible, especially outside of North America and Western Europe, where we have a massive fan base. So we want to have the flexibility to have a free-to-play option for those people.” he added.
