Fresh Source Confirms GTA 6 on Track for 2025 Release

Late last week, information appears online suggesting that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) was currently being scheduled for a release in 2025. While an earlier date was supposedly initially planned, it was said that Rockstar Games was rather keen to avoid the debacle seen with the exceptionally premature and practically broken launch of Cyberpunk 2077 (not that their PC launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 was any better). – Well, in adding further weight to this, following a report via DSOGaming, gaming journalist and former Kotaku editor Jason Schreier has now added that, to the best of his inside knowledge, GTA 6 is indeed looking likely to land in 2025!
GTA 6 is Confirmed for 2025… Again!
Seemingly citing some actual in-person visual knowledge of the game, Jason Schreier pretty much confirms everything that was suggested in the leak from last week. Albeit, adding the caveat that most of what was revealed he’d always mentioned it a year ago – which although in fairness he probably did, he’d probably claim so even if he didn’t. – The bottom line though is that with this additional confirmation, it does appear that the following information is now, pending formal confirmation from Rockstar games, what we can expect:
- GTA 6 is scheduled to release in 2025
- It was set to release sooner, but Rockstar Games decided to push it back to ensure it releases in a near-perfect condition
- Vice City will be the location of the game. Albeit, in a modern setting rather than the original game which was set in the ’80s
- The map will be expanded upon with the release of updates and users can expect to see it change over time in an ‘evolving’ state
What Do We Think?
As we said earlier, until Rockstar Games says something, this is all to be taken with a pretty hefty grain of salt. In terms of when that might happen though, well, while 2025 does seem likely, don’t expect to hear much official about GTA 6 for a good while yet. Put simply, Rockstar Games runs a notoriously tight ship when it comes to leaks. I’ve even heard that to work there you must sign an exceptionally aggressive contract warning you of the penalties should you decide to ‘leak’ any information online.
With apparently four years to go, however, all we can do is wait and hope that GTA 6 is every bit as good as we expect (or hope) it to be!
