CrystalDiskMark – Sequential Read
Samsung’s new flagship NVMe drive which utilises V-NAND technology just edged the SM951 deployed in the Chillblast Fusion Wolf 2. The 2274MB/s read speed is nothing short of mindblowing and exemplifies how much faster NVMe drives are compared to traditional SATA devices. Speaking of SATA devices, the system’s mechanical drive outputted a good read rate and the USB 3.0 numbers remained solid.

Rather surprisingly, the boot NVMe drive couldn’t exceed 1000MB/s despite running the benchmark on multiple occasions and reinstalling the software. Technically, the Samsung 950 Pro supports read speeds up to 1500MB/s so anything under 1200MB/s is on the lower end of things. Perhaps, I’ve just been unlucky and received a poor sample. On a more positive note, the secondary drive provided laudable performance although the USB 3.0 rate was average.
