FSP Designs Wonderful Redundant Desktop ATX PSU

Redundant power supplies are primarily designed for server usage scenarios and offer unrivalled peace-of-mind due to the additional failsafe. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, redundant power supplies often contain two or more power units although only one device works at a given time. As a result, if the primary power supply fails, the backup unit will take over and prevent data failure. This switch is instantaneous which means it’s impossible to have a sudden shutdown.
As a result, even dual redundant setups are expensive and can be rather large. Saying that, they essential additions to a server environment and it’s a price worth paying to protect data and ensure the server remains stable. Respected power supply manufacturer FSP has just announced a brand new redundant PSU for desktop users. The twin series PSU is ATX sized box which can fit in any standard chassis and encloses two hot-swappable 500W server-grade power supplies. Furthermore, there’s also internal circuitry which maintains redundancy. On another note, the power supply works alongside the operating system which allows you to monitor key parameters and set up programmable alerts.
This ingenious device is designed for professional home workstations and includes server-grade 40mm fans. The company plans to divulge more information during Computex and we should have some first-hand footage of this very soon.
