Full AMD Vega Series Leaked: Core, Eclipse and Nova!

Rumours point towards Vega either launching or making an appearance at Computex 2017. That’s only two weeks away, and that means leaks are starting to trickle through. The latest, reportedly from within AMD Headquarters, is a big one.

The new information suggests that the reference cards will be released on June 5th. Not only that, but there will be three different cards at launch. With that, you can expect a more affordable, mid-range, and flagship model of Vega.

RX Vega Core

The Core is expected to launch from $399 and is aimed as a direct competitor to the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. This is the “low-end” card of the series. Of course, its relative performance is all speculation right now until we’ve seen real-world performance.

RX Vega Eclipse

At $499, the Eclipse is set to be the mid-budget card of the series. It is expected this card will go up against the GTX 1080.

RX Vega Nova

This one is the big boss of the group. Expected to retail around $599, it’s the one we expect will go against the GTX 1080 Ti. In fact, we really hope it is competitive with the 1080 Ti, as that will certainly shake up the market a bit.

What’s going on with the price?

If those prices are correct, there are some very interesting things going on here. The Core would be priced slightly higher than a 3rd party GTX 1070 at launch. The Eclipse would be pretty much the same price as a 3rd party GTX 1080, such as the Gigabyte Windforce OC. However, the top Nova card would be priced less than the GTX 1080 Ti by almost $100.

If AMD history tells me anything, that top card is going to be almost as good as the Nvidia offering but for less money. Of course, that’s my own speculation, but AMD has often found a good balance between price and performance in the past.
