Reliable leak site EXPreview who has been leaking information about Intel Coffee Lake for a while appears to have published their i7-8700K review early. The launch is supposedly on October 5 but all manner of information is leaking out anyway that it appears they went ahead. The Coffee lake i7-8700K processor of course bumps the core count to six from four. That means it also has twelve threads, while the previous i7-7700K has eight. EXPreview also includes an i7-7800X processor in the comparison, which is the 6-core/12-thread HEDT option.
The benchmark system is running all the default clocks with turbo. The 4x8GB memory is set to DDR4-2400 with CL14 timings. The result is pretty much within expectations, mostly going in between the two. Intel processors. Although surprisingly, the i7-8700K is able to best the i7-7800X in some benchmarks. Namely Sandra 2016 processor arithmetic, SuperPI, wPrime single, x264, WinRAR single and 7-zip.
EXPreview even performed a parity benchmark at 4.5GHz. Thrown in are gaming benchmarks at 1920 x 1080. The i7-8700K shows its gaming prowess outperforming both on average. Ashes of Singularity for example got 48.3 fps with the i7-8700K. Meanwhile, the i7-7800X only got 43.4 fps. Check out their full review with more benchmarks at http://www.expreview.com/57166-all.html
