Func Surface 1030 XL Mouse Pad Review

Mouse pads are often down to a user’s preference as the market is saturated with many different varies of all shapes, sizes, colours and textures. This makes it that much harder for companies to make a product that really does stand out from the rest. I believe that Func may have hit the nail on the head with this mouse pad as it pretty much ticks all the boxes. Func have produced a well designed, high performing and quality product that stands out from the crowd. The premium aspect immediately grabs your attention, alongside the simple yet effective dual sided pad, of which its surfaces suits almost everyone.

The Func Surface 1030 XL does have a few issues however, with the main one being its price point: At almost £45 RRP, that is a fair chunk of cash for anyone to throw at a mouse pad. The other slightly smaller issue, is that some users may find the mouse pad too smooth – even on the rough side. Personally, I found the mouse pad ideal for all the work I do and for when I’m gaming, although I stuck to the rough side (although the rough side is still very smooth). I did also have to clean the mouse pad frequently, as I already mentioned, getting the smallest crumb really effects the glide performance. The build quality could have been better, the rough edges give it that slightly tacky feel and don’t look great.

That said, if you’re in the market for a high quality and high performing mouse pad and you’re after only the best, then the Func Surface 1030 XL could be what you’re looking for. The performance is second to none – by far the best I’ve managed to get my hands on. Sure the price is fairly steep, but this is a premium product (which slightly contradicts the rough edges). Func are now officially my favourite mouse pad manufacturer, not just because the functionality of the 1030 XL is so well thought out, but because the performance is top notch and it also looks great on my desk. Sure it has some bad points, but if you are just after great performance then this is the pad to get. So for these reasons, I’m happy to award the Func Surface 1030 XL our Extreme Performance Award.
