If you’re not aware of Furmark, it’s effectively a tool that stresses your GPU to its absolute limits. It’s a useful tool to just see exactly what happens when your GPU is put under an unrealistic load and how its cooler fares, it also transforms your GPU into a space heater which can be convenient during the winter months (like mining crypto, but with none of the benefits). This tool has been available for a long time, 16 years to be exact, but now it’s going even further, with a sequel, Furmark 2 that has now left beta and is available for the masses.
The development of Furmark 2 started back in 2022 and over time it has been building up into the latest public release available now. This release brings in support for OpenGL and Vulkan APIs for the new FurMark Knot Demo which accompanies the previous Donut benchmark. The program offers support for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows and Linux builds and there is some talks of support for Raspberry Pi 5 as well as MacOS in the future. The benchmark now also allows for submission of online scores to compare with others. There is also improved command line support and it has been built with GeeXLab.
Head on over to gpumagick.com/scores/ to post your Furmark scores.
FurMark 2 is the successor of the venerable FurMark 1 and is a very intensive GPU stress test on Windows (32-bit and 64-bit) and Linux (32-bit and 64-bit) platforms. It’s also a quick OpenGL and Vulkan graphics benchmark with online scores. FurMark 2 has improved command line support and is built with GeeXLab. Furmark 2 can be downloaded from geeks3d.com alongside Furmark 1 if you wish.
