Future Windows 10 Updates Might Help With The Bloatware

There has been a lot of talk about all the Windows 10 features that you can’t get rid off. Granted, there are some backdoors through the PowerShell or small tools to help you, but Windows 10 itself didn’t offer any function to remove the unwanted parts such as the Groove Music, Weather, or Maps from your desktop.

Currently, there is no uninstall feature for a lot of default Windows apps and that’s something that’s bugging people. They don’t use it, so they want to remove it – but either there is no uninstall function at all or when there is, then it has been disabled and is greyed out. The latest preview version changes that and since features in the preview versions aren’t guaranteed to make it into the official updates, the headline above features the word might.

According to Ghacks who spotted this development, five of the bugging apps considered as bloatware by most can be uninstalled. That’s not a lot, but it is a start and it might just be proof of concept before more options get added to the final version. Currently, the preview version 14936 allows users to uninstall Mail and Calendar, Calculator, Groove Music, Maps, and Weather – all apps that most people never launched unless they miss clicked.

A lot of people might also wish to uninstall other aspects such as Cortana, but we most likely won’t see that coming as it is an integral part of the operating system – but it can be disabled. It is definitely a step in the right direction and I can’t wait to uninstall four out of five of the above-mentioned apps myself. I do like the calculator.
