The G.Skill Ripjaws 4 DDR4 2666MHz memory kit is currently available in the UK from OverclockersUK for £209.99; it is also available in the USA for $169.99 from Newegg. These prices include the lifetime warranty from G.Skill.
Summary
Today we had the Ripjaws 4 DDR4 2666MHz memory kit in for testing and it didn’t fall short of expectations. In the dedicated memory testing, it presented some pretty average 2666MHz results; this might not sound amazing, but it is one of the cheapest 16GB DDR4 memory kits on the market. The overall feel and quality of the product is very high, very typical of G.Skill. However, the added heatsink detailing at the top of the modules could prove troublesome for some of the larger tower heatsinks.
The performance out of the box was rock solid, something we have come to know and love about G.Skill products. The fun really begins when you start overclocking; it opens up such a massive amount of performance, which you normally don’t see with this sort of clock increase. The timings didn’t change either which I was very surprised about; normally during memory overclocking, the timings increase to allow for higher overclocks to be made. Performance aside, the product feels very high quality in hand and the price is simply amazing.
The only bad thing I can think of is the height of the heatsinks. When compared to a bare memory module, it is around 8mm taller; this doesn’t sound like much and it really isn’t; the Ripjaws series is around 40mm high, so will fit comfortably under most heatsinks.
Pros
- Lifetime warranty
- Great performance out of the box
- Easy overclocking
- One of the cheapest DDR4 16GB on the market
- Small range of colours to suit most colour themes
Cons
- Timings are still high on the DDR4 memory range
“With rock solid performance out of the box and great overclocking capabilities AND a low price; it would be silly not to consider this memory kit.”
Thank you to G.Skill for providing this sample.
