The G.Skill memory range is typically one that impresses with aesthetics. As you can see, the new Trident Z Neo is no exception. The two-tone effect on the heat spreaders looks fantastic with its brushed aluminium finish.
The heat spreader is a good size, with a good chunk of aluminium to shift the heat. That is mounted over a 10-layer PCB, which houses “handpicked” chips for the memory.
The light bar runs the full length of the memory. It’s fully exposed on this side though, with the G.Skill logo on the side.
However, the other side has a higher section on the heat spreader with fins.
Of course, as you can see, the heat spreader sits along side them. Not only do the fins increase the heat spreader surface area, but they also look pretty bad-add.
The whole thing looks like some kind of weapon, or at least a box opener.
The stepped design to the heat spreader does look fantastic though. Just different enough to stand out from the busy DDR4 market crowd.
