G.Skill TridentX DDR3 2400MHz 8GB Memory Kit Review

As we have seen with the launch of Z77 and Ivy Bridge, the gates have been opened to faster memory that has the higher levels of bandwidth and G.Skill have taken this to their advantage with their range of TridentX kits that are currently on the market.
G.Skill have built a great reputation with their Ripjaws kits and it is pretty clear that this has been passed onto this new kit both in style and performance from the IC up. Performance wise, whilst we only saw a 7% overclock with the kit pushing up to 2670MHz, these speeds are still very impressive especially when there is no dip in performance either and write speeds shooting right up to just under the 22000MB/s mark.
It would have been nice to see the kit push past the 2600MHz mark and towards the 2666MHz point, however this was not to be, but with G.Skill also stocking a 2666MHz kit, I’m sure that the scope for faster speeds and more bandwidth is certainly possible, and all we can advise is for you to watch this space.
Price wise the TridentX 2400MHz 8GB kit is priced at a very reasonable £99.95, which puts it right in the forefront of some of its competitors that are available on the market. Overall this kit has proved its worth, showing that by taking advantage of Z77 and the Ivy Bridge bandwidth opportunities, and of course the money saved by buying this cheaper kit can therefore go towards faster and better components in other areas of your system.
