Gabe Newell Answers Reports Of Microsoft Purchasing Valve

Gabe Newell
Earlier this week, reports/rumours were emerging that Valve was considering selling up and that Microsoft was in a prime position to buy it. Now, admittedly, at the time, we didn’t report on it. Why? Because the rumour sounded completely stupid. Gabe Newell, the man, the legend, himself, however, has responded to the rumours.
In his response, he has been his usual eloquent self.
Microsoft Purchasing Valve?
Yes, it sounded ridiculous and as above, it’s why we didn’t give it much credence. Despite this, however, some fans have been getting more than a little concerned. Even to the point of contacting Gabe Newell (owner of Valve) to ask him what was happening.
In a report via DSOGaming, those fears can, for the moment, be laid to rest. He isn’t selling.
Question and Answer
Concerned fan Jens Thomas sent Gabe Newell an e-mail, asking the question: “Is Valve being sold to Microsoft? Please respond. The community is shaken.”
Surprisingly, Gaben did respond. In his response, he very succinctly answers the questions and shuts down all future speculation: “Not that I’m aware of”.
Well, that settles that then.
Ridiculous rumours!
While the sale of Valve to Microsoft is not impossible, it is so massively out of the realms of possibility at the moment that this was all bound to be a rumour. While Microsoft might have more money than they know what to do with, it’s not as if Valve as a company is struggling.
Unfortunately, despite confirming that Valve is not being sold to Microsoft, we still awaiting confirmation of Half-Life 3.
