A Closer Look
Gainward’s Phantom series of coolers is among the most unique out there for VGA products. Unlike the conventional design Gainward sit the fans behind the heatsink meaning a unique radiator aesthetic is presented.
The Gainward Phantom GTX 970 uses a chunky 2.5 slot design which puts it at a definite width disadvantage compared to most custom solutions that are 2 slots in width.
At the top of the card we see the dual 6 pin power connectors and the two fans which are easily removable for maintenance.
The end and the bottom of the card are both partially sealed for aesthetic reasons.
Gainward equip a black PCB to maintain the Stealth look of the Phantom cooler.
The rear I/O maintains triple DisplayPorts, although in mini form, mini HDMI and a DVI. It is a little disappointing to see mostly mini connectors with no adapter, if you want to use the mini ports you have to acquire adapters at your own expense.
