Gainward is one of the most underrated add-in-board GPU partners and tends to release impressive solutions at competitive prices. The company’s latest endeavour is the GameSoul series which includes the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080. Both cards sport an identical aesthetic design and look quite unusual due to the orange colour scheme. Also, the cards employ a triple slot design with separate aluminium heatsinks positioned underneath three 100 mm fans. The GameSoul range features a hefty backplate which reduces GPU droop and has ventilation cut-outs.
The GTX 1080 GameSoul has a factory overclocked core of 1733MHz and 1873MHz boost while the GTX 1070 model is clocked at 1620MHz/1822MHz. These figures are a decent improvement over NVIDIA’s Founders Editions and should yield a good performance boost. On another note, the GPUs support dual-BIOS functionality and a stylish integrated LED lighting system. In terms of power requirements, it appears both cards use two 8-pin PCI-E which is fairly uncommon on the GTX 1070. Connectivity-wise, the Gainward GameSoul GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 house three DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b and dual-link DVI-D. Given the impressive factory overclocks, and the company’s commitment to offering competitive prices, I can both cards being really successful. As per usual, we’ve requested review samples and hope to receive them rather soon.
