For several weeks, GALAX has been teasing their single-slot GTX 1070 Katana graphics card but now they have finally released it for the public to purchase. Listed in their own GALAX store for $419.99 USD, it is priced $20 higher than the average GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card and the lowest priced GTX 1070 graphics card listed on Newegg.com by comparison is priced at $379.99.
Although unlike most other offerings it is the only single-slot air cooled solution on the planet. Users would have to register first on the GALAX store website before being able to purchase anything. The downside is that registration is only limited to US customers on that website (the dropdown menu does not allow for any other selection other than United States).
The GALAX GeForce GTX 1070 Katana measures just 16mm tall utilizing a custom PCB design and their GALAX’ own vapor chamber heatsink design to keep the GPU and surrounding components cool despite the small heatsink size. There is a single 80mm PWM blower-style fan towards the front and the shroud has strategically placed ventialtion along the sides and top back to ventilate the air since there is no second slot room to push hot air out exclusively like it would on a dual-slot GTX 1070 Founder’s Edition reference graphics card. At the rear, it has an HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4 and DVI-D connector and it is powered by a single 8-pin PSU connector.
