For those of you who love the GALAX HOF design you’re gonna want to see this as a PCIe Gen 5 SSD from Galax featuring the stunning white HOF design has been spotted in China.
Initially spotted on the Chinese website expreview (VIA Tom’s hardware), images and specs surrounding a GALAX HOF EXTREME 50 PCIe Gen 5 SSD have surfaced. The drive features a very shiny and premium design that HOF is known for and features a tiny fan to help cool the drive. Now I’m not fond of the idea of PCIe Gen 5 drives and the tiny noisy fans but hey at least this looks better than most of the other Gen 5 coolers.
The HOF PCI-e Gen 5 SSD is stated to come in sizes of 1TB and 2 TB and will feature sequential reads of 9500/10000 MB/s respectively and an 8500/9500 MB/s sequential write. When it comes to random reads the 1TB model again lags behind with random reads (IOPS) of 1,300,000 against the 2TB 1,500,000 and random writes (IOPS )of 1,100,000 against 1,250,000. Galax has rated the 2TB drive with an endurance of 1400 TBW and the 1TB with half at 700TBW.
The HOF Extreme 50 2TB features a limited 5-year warranty and has already been launched in China for 2499 yuan ($362.85) and will eventually come to the western market for $349.99.
