First attempt will be 3DMarkVantage performance test with physx on, with everything on stock for the GPU and the fan speed set to AUTO. (room temperature is 22c)
P30027! Its impressive for a single card at stock isn’t it ?
A GTX480 @ 875/1750/2200 gets a score of P25525 for example in this same test!
Now, lets see the performance test with physx off.
P25640 points with a single GPU @ stock, again impressive numbers. Also take a look at the temperatures, which seem pretty good compared to the previous GF100.
Here we got 71c max temp, which is a big improvement.
Time for some Heaven v2.1 benchmark for DX11 to test the GTX 580 performance in tessellation.
Settings: Tessellation and all the special effects are set to default Normal
No words for the score, very impressive improvement over the current DX11 cards on the market.
Settings: Tessellation set to Extreme, special effects set to high.
Same good results, it scored 1240 points
Settings: Tessellation set in the Extreme,8XAA and 16X Anisotropic filtering while all the special effects are all open to the highest option.
886 points!
We can see the big improvement over the current DX11 cards, the GTX580 really seems the king in this benchmark for a single card at stock.
Now its time for some Furmark. The test is run for 5 minutes to see the temperatures of the card (notice that the fan speed is set to AUTO).
The temperature didn’t exceed 70c in this test (that was impossible to achieve with a GTX480 which would jump up to more than 95c).
Now, lets see some game benchmarks with Lost planet 2 benchmark. DX11 with AA set to max and all settings on high.
63.3FPS with a single card at stock.
The GTX480 scored 48FPS with AA at 4x. Indeed an impressive result again with the card showing its real strength even under high AA.
