Galvanic Games, the developer behind Wizard With a Gun, is closing its doors. Despite a promising start, the game’s sales were not enough to sustain the studio. Founder Patrick Morgan announced the closure, stating that they had run out of time to secure funding for new projects.
Morgan shared on LinkedIn that the past year was particularly tough for the gaming industry. They had several encouraging conversations at DICE and GDC, but the process of signing new projects took longer than the studio’s financial runway. The team hoped to find funding, but the timeline was too short.
Morgan expressed pride in the game and appreciated working with Devolver Digital, calling it a dream come true. However, despite the accomplishments, the studio’s journey has ended. Morgan noted the irony of building his ideal team only to face closure after their most productive year.
The closure affects the talented team members of Galvanic Games, who will now be seeking new opportunities. The community has been supportive, but the financial reality proved insurmountable.
Galvanic Games’ shutdown highlights the challenges indie developers face in a competitive market. Their efforts and creative contributions will be remembered by fans and the gaming community.
