Today I am very happy to bring you a review of a product from Gamdias, I’m most excited about the fact that this is the first Gamdias product I’ve had the pleasure of working with, so I’ve been eager to see what this newcomer is capable of doing. Having only been founded in 2012, the company has a lot to prove and given that they’re targeting the highly competitive PC gaming market with premium grade and generally higher value products, they’ve got some fierce competition from the likes of Razer, Steelseries, Roccat, TteSports and many more.
“Our design team consists of a group of passionate gamers with limitless creative ideas. The design team’ s mission is to highlight the special aspects of each product, just like the distinctive characteristic of the gods in Greek Mythology. Each of our gaming products is designed with a patented special feature; never-ceasing to break the limitations of traditional thinking, and revolutionize the eSports industry. GAMDIAS aspires to offer its users a gaming experiences unparalleled to its predecessors.” reads the Gamdias website.
The Hephaestus may not have the easiest name to pronounce, but the cool part is it takes its name from the Greek god (of the same name), a god of blacksmiths, worshipped as being the smith of all the weapons of the gods in Olympus and son of Hera and Zeus. Never hurts to have some cool mythology tied to your products, something that will no doubt prove a nice aspect to most gamers.
The headset comes stylishly packaged with a nice photo of the side of the headset, and a clear section to give us a great view of the headset. On the front you’ll find a little info about the 7.2 sound, blast source identifier and cooler system, but more on those shortly.
Down the side are a few bullet points of the major features, including the microphone sound changer, virtual surround and environment sound effect simulations.
Around the back of the box you’ll find a detailed specification run-down; as you can see, the headset comes equipped with two powerful 32 Ohm 40mm drivers, as well as a powerful pair of 30mm 80 Ohm vibration units and a high quality microphone.
The headset comes as a single piece unit with a hard-wired in-line controller and gold-plated USB connection, but you’ll also find a couple of stickers and a quick installation guide in the box.
