How Much Does it Cost?

The Game Max range is often known for being affordable and the Phantom is no exception. Priced at £69.00 it’s very reasonable value for money. Keep in mind, it comes with that vertical GPU bracket, the RGB fan hub, a tempered glass window, and all those lovely LED lights in the front panel, and that rear fan; that’s value that’s hard to beat.

Overview

There’s a lot to love about this chassis, and while it’s not perfect, any issues are pretty minor and unlikely to hinder anyone shopping in this price range. For example, the cable routing holes could be a little deeper, as passing through the 24-pin cable was rather snug. Again, it wasn’t impossible though, and you only have to do it once. There aren’t many HDD bays either, but it’ll still manage 1 x 3.5″ and 2 x 2.5″ which is more than enough for more; plus, many are moving to M.2 drives now also. There are no front panel fans either, but if you’re adding an AIO cooler, stick that in the front panel and kill two birds with one stone.

The front panel is one of the more interesting in this price range. Rather than just being in your face lighting from the fans, it’s more tasteful. The way they break up the light looks pretty darn cool and futuristic. Of course, the fact that all the lighting in the front, and the rear fan syncs, really sets it apart. If you add more fans, you can plug it all into that hub, and really go to town with the effects.

Build Quality

The core of the chassis is pretty simple, which means fewer things to go wrong. However, little details like the rotatable rear expansion slots are real game changers. I’ve never seen that outside of very expensive models before. I’m also surprised by the right side panel, which is very heavy duty and keeps the chassis rigid and rattle free. The PSU shroud is always a welcome addition, and since it’s hard-fitted, it also adds strength, while also providing clean aesthetics.

Should I Buy One?

For a slick looking gaming build with a few storage drives, RGB lighting, and vertical GPUs, you could do a lot worse for the money, or pay more for similar from many other brands. Game Max has delivered a premium level of features at an affordable price, and that’s always a winner in my book.
