We all knew we had a wait ahead of us for the final season of Game of Thrones, but exactly how long was a little up in the air. You see, getting details of the popular TV series is difficult as the cast and crew are exceptionally tight-lipped.
Despite hopes from fans, we were able to confirm earlier this month that the final season of Game of Thrones would not air until 2019. Exactly when, however, was any ones guess.
Maisie Williams is the actress who plays Arya Stark in the series. Being one of the original long-term members of the cast, she, like others, has remained guarded over revealing any details on the series. In a report via Metro, however, she may have completely blown the lid on one of the most sought-after questions – When the final season will begin airing.
In the interview, Maisie Williams was talking about an upcoming Aardman animation to which she has a voice acting role. During the interview, however, with her Game of Thrones mode of questioning to one side, she may have accidentally slipped a secret.
The secret being that the final season of GoT will begin in April 2019.
Speaking in the interview, she said: “We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April (2019). That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”
Hard to say, but I see absolutely no reason why not. In truth, I was perhaps expecting it later in the year (2019), but I’ll take sooner over later to see how this all ends.
What we do know is that multiple endings will be shot. This to prevent any accidental leaks. So at least we know that we have a good chance of remaining spoiler free until then. I mean, George R R Martin isn’t going to release the next book anytime soon is he?
