I find it incredibly hard to believe, but it has now been over a year since season 7 of Game of Thrones ended. Given the huge set-up it made for the final season, I think it’s fair to say that expectations are high. Not in the sense that the fans have a high standard, but I think more than anything because we all just want to know how it ends.
I mean, who will sit on the Iron Throne at the conclusion? My fan theory suggests Rob Stark, but he’ll give up power to Tyrion and bring a crude form of a Republic to Westeros. I’m only writing that now so that this time next year I can do a little victory dance if I’m right.
One of the biggest questions, however, is when will the final season start? Well, thanks to a report via Polygon, we have our answer. Game of Thrones Season 8 will start in April 2019.
Well, for starters, we know that the season isn’t going to be very long at only 6 episodes. Before you start panicking though, each episode is reported to be around 90 minutes long. So in a sense, the finale will be made up of 6 mini-films. Sounds good to me!
While many of us are still waiting for George R. R. Martin to actually finish writing the next book (and it’s certainly taken him long enough) at least we don’t have much longer to wait for the TV series.
