The Gamemax Moonstone Full Tower Tempered Glass chassis with RGB LED fans is currently available from most major retailers for £105-110. Still not a small amount of money, but when you’re getting four 120mm RGB LED fans, a fan controller, fan hub, and a lot of tempered glass thrown into the mix, it’s pretty fantastic value for money.
I’m pretty impressed with the latest chassis from Gamemax. The last one we reviewed, the Onyx, was a bargain, it offered three sides of tempered glass and a PSU shroud and looks stunning. However, a little bit more money on the Moonstone nets you some nice bonuses. With the inclusion of even more fans, and the fact that they have fairly unique lighting patterns. Then you’ve got the built-in 10-port fan hub controller, which is great for taking command of your cooling. It’s also a little bigger than the Onyx chassis, so those who need more space will obviously want to look at this model.
There’s a lot to love about this chassis, it feels robust and looks it too. There are a few minor tweaks that I would like to see to it though, but none are deal breakers. The cable routing grommets are too small, but there are plenty of them to compensate. The front panel looks a little cluttered, and the LED button needs to be pushed down too far to “click” but that’s no big deal. Blacking out the right side panel interior so it’s more mirror and less glass would also be nice, as there’s not much of interest to see behind the motherboard anyway. Again, no big things there. However, it’s all chunky and feels well made, everything fits together nicely, and that’s obviously a good thing.
This is a pretty crazy looking chassis, it’s certainly not going to be to everyone’s taste. Heck, it’s not even to my taste, but I still appreciate it regardless. It’s a little too shiny and colourful for my office, but I can see that a lot of people would like something that really catches the eye, and with an RGB motherboard, GPU, and other hardware thrown in there, it’s certainly going to stand out from the crowd.
There is room for any of the largest graphics cards on the market, a huge CPU cooler, and massive radiators. You’ll not be left wanting for more space with the Moonstone. You could easily build an enthusiast grade rig within this chassis and still have room to spare. The vertical 2.5″ drive mounts are great for showing off your new SSDs, and the ugly 3.5″ drives hide away with the PSU under the shroud.
“For those wanting to create a powerful gaming system that stands out from the crowd, the Gamemax Moonstone is going to be a great addition to your build.”
