A Closer Look & Performance

First impressions go a long way when it comes to peripherals. I mean, this thing is going to be on your desk 24/7, so it has to have some appeal that you’re happy to live with. Fortunately, it delivers big time in this regard, as it’s one of the best-looking keyboards to cross my desk this year. The stunning white textured keycaps and the sand-blasted aluminium top frame look stunning together. It does come in dark grey, but honestly, I can’t see that looking better than the white version. Albeit, white isn’t a good option for those who type with dirty fingers, as it’ll grub up pretty quickly. This needs to be a Cheetos free keyboard.

The little details are very nicely taken care of too. Such as the soft rolled edges, and curved corners. I should say, the bulk of the keyboard frame is a durable plastic design, and the aluminium is basically a skin on the top. However, that’s still enough to give it added strength, reduce vibrations through the keyboard, and keep it nice and rigid.

It’s pretty heavy too, which I think is great, as it doesn’t want to slide around your desktop when you’re smashing away at the keys.

Added Control

The keys are laid out so that you don’t need any desktop software. In fact, the whole thing is plug-and-play anyway and doesn’t even need a driver. However, it does have built-in LED lighting. You can use Fn-Shift and the arrow keys to cycle through the available effects easily enough.

It’s not brimming with add-on features, but I’m glad to see they’ve squeezed in some basic multimedia controls too. I listen to a lot of music while I’m working and gaming, and I don’t have to tab out now to cycle through songs. It’s a small detail, but a nice quality of life addition none the less.

Capped

Those keycaps are absolutely gorgeous to look at. However, the also feel pretty good too. They have a light texture to them that feels premium to the touch, and also gives them just a hint of grip too, which makes them comfortable for both work and gaming.

The custom font they’ve used looks good too. They’ve even gone with their own design on some of the more common keys. There’s one more function hiding here too, a Windows/MacOS mode switch. I’m guessing this is to change the signal from still like the Windows Key. However, I don’t have a Mac to test it on, but it’s a handy feature to have I’m sure.

Wireless

Now, this is a wireless keyboard, but how you connect? That’s is up to you. The keyboard can be put into Bluetooth or 2.4G wireless mode. In Bluetooth, you can pair it directly to your compatible device. However, there’s a USB dongle included too, and I highly recommend this as the primary connection format. In this mode, you’ll get lower latency at the proper 1ms response time. You’ll also find that 10 key rollover only works in this mode, and is limited to just 6 keys in direct Bluetooth mode. Of course, all the modes work great, it’s more just giving you the choice for any scenario; you’ll never be left without a way to connect here.

Get a Grip

The keyboard is nicely weighted already, but it still features the thickest rubber grip pads on the base of any keyboard I’ve ever see.

You can really shove on this keyboard, and it stays firmly planted. There’s another trick to why they’re so thick too, as they match up with recesses on the wrist rest to help hold the two together.

Tucked into the back, you’ll find a USB dongle, as mentioned above, that’s for the wireless functionality.

It’s unobtrusive enough, and I love that you can safely store it when not in use. Albeit, you have to remember to put it back so you don’t lose it.

TTC Switches

The included switches feel fantastic, they really do. Sure, they’re red, which apes that of the Cherry equivalent. However, they’re not really identical. They feel very light and they are linear. However, I think they’re quieter and have a slightly springy feel that gives them a fast return rate. They’re a blast to type on and very easy on your fingertips. Perfect for gamers, and great for light and fast touch typing too.

The switch purists may want to stick with Cherry, and that’s cool. However, I really do think these switches are great, and given the price of the keyboard, you’ll get no complaints here.

Wrist Rest

Ergonomics on this keyboard are on point. It doesn’t have any kickstands but does have a built-in riser at the back, giving it a slight angle that’s comfortable to use without the wrist rest. However, the wrist rest looks stunning and has a matching white finish. It has a large lip that sits under the keyboard holding it in place.

I like the little “Gaming is Winning” badge at the front too.

Gaming

The switches are really nice to use, as I’ve said. I’ve been gaming and working on this for the last couple of days, and honestly, I could live with it every day. It’s a very nimble keyboard, with responsive switches and despite being wireless, it doesn’t feel like a compromise. It’ll give you 1ms response, which is obviously fantastic. I typically use a wired keyboard, and I can’t tell the difference, honestly. Wireless tech has come a long way this last couple of years, and it’s not the sacrifice for connection quality that it used to be.

Plus, the dazzling white LED lighting is superbly clear. Even in a bright room, it gives off quite the light show and makes it extremely easy to read the font on the keyboard. I mean, I touch type, so I couldn’t give a damn if the keys were blank, but it still looks really nice.

There are no per-key effects here, and you can’t change the default profiles. However, there are a range of about six settings to pick from. There’s a reaction mode, breathing effect, some gaming layouts, etc. Of course, you can turn the lights off entirely too if you so desire.
