Gamestick Android Games Console Review

A Closer Look

First we start with the controller, which is somewhat larger than it looks in photos, measuring 160mm x 90mm x 20mm, which looks and feels about the same to hold something like a Nintendo DS. The two analogue sticks feature concave cups with a ridge, making them ideal for most any style of gaming, especially FPS.

There is a D-Pad, two analogue stick, power, back, start, home, four face buttons and two shoulder buttons in total, all the buttons are of a robust quality and nicely finished, although the D-pad feels a little clunky under the thumb. The controller features a rechargeable battery pack (not removable). It is recharged via the micro USB port on the front of the controller, which can be seen along side the four player number LED lights.

Around the back of the controller we have two shoulder buttons and the console its self is tucked into a storage space.

On the bottom we have a large slide up button, this is used for ejecting the console dongle. There are also two dock connection pins (dock sold separately), while in the bottom left you can also see two small pin hole buttons for reset and Bluetooth pairing.

Here you can see the console (yes, that little dongle is the console!), and when it is removed from the controller a little flap folds down to give a clean look, rather than a large gap at the back of the controller.

The console is a simple looking device, similar to that of a USB flash drive. It features a HDMI jack on one end for connecting it to your TV, Micro SD slot on the back, MicroUSB port for providing it with power and some passive cooling ventilation on each side. There is also a small reset button and a tiny white LED on the interior, but that really is all there is to see of this tiny beast!

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
