GEIL Announces EVO Spear DDR4 Memory Kits
Ron Perillo / 7 years ago
GEIL‘s booth at Computex had several memory modules on display with varying shapes, sizes and designs. While most eyes were on their SuperLuce RGB and EVO X RGB LED modules, they also have several practically designed modules such as the GEIL EVO Spear DDR4 series. The GEIL EVO Spear stands out from most memory kits not because of fancy lighting, but because it actually features standard DDR4 height. RAM heatspreader clearance is a bone of contention among system builders with larger heatsinks which often conflict.
GEIL EVO Spear for both AMD and Intel
Like the rest of GEIL’s massive memory lineup, the EVO Spear is available in an AMD Ryzen edition, compatible with any AM4 motherboard. However, GEIL also guarantees that the new series is fully compatible with new Intel X299 chipset mainboards. Naturally, it is also fully comfortable on a dual-channel Intel 200-series system. GEIL offers the module in speeds of 2133MHz up to 3466MHz, in single, dual or quad-channel kits.
Pricing and Availability
Since it is lower profile and a bit more humble looking than other GEIL kits, it is very cost-efficient. Prices vary due to DRAM volatility so it could change over time. However, the Spear will be a very affordable mainstream unit is also accessible to many builders price-wise. GEIL confirms that these modules will soon be available around late July.
