Pricing
In the UK GeIL’s DRAGON RAM 8GB 1600MHz kit costs £60.38 from MemoryC, £60 from Overclockers, £57.84 from LambdaTek and £65 from CCL. In the USA we found it at MemoryC for $85. The GeIL DRAGON RAM kit comes with a lifetime warranty.
Overview
Okay so GeIL’s DRAGON RAM is a bit of a mixed bag. Firstly, the design kind of sucks – they put the cool pattern on the wrong side so you can’t really see it inside your case, they also made the red LEDs too weak so you can barely see them. But then that’s kind-of balanced out by the fact the whole module is black so it looks really neat and tidy. The modules aren’t going to win any awards performance because at 1600MHz and CL11 they are fairly bog standard. However, overclocking is where this kit comes into its own because it’s only a 1.5 volt kit, raising the voltage to 1.65v (which all memory modules can run stable 24/7) we managed to take it to a staggering 2200MHz. Even if other modules overclock worse than this you should still be able to manage at least 1866MHz or 2000MHz. The best part about these modules is clearly the price, they are pretty much as cheap as you can find but they certainly shouldn’t be. On the whole these modules could do with a redesign in aesthetic terms but they are still great performers for the money.
