After hearing that GeIL wanted to start pushing their products in the UK market again, we were keen to crack on to see if and how things had changed in terms of what was on offer and we weren’t let down in the slightest as GeIL had managed to harness exactly what they used to offer but in a more stylish way with performance to boot.
Styling is going to be a bit like marmite and will see consumers either loving or hating it, but we can see one type of user who will be really keen on the styling, and that will be anyone with an Asus Sabertooth motherboard as the colour scheme should match up pretty well indeed. The heatspreaders are also certainly unique with the EVO branding cut outs and ventilated slats leaving no chance of mistaking these for other modules on the market.
At stock, 2133MHz is still a speed that most consumers won’t even need as the majority of users will find 1600MHz memory to be more than enough but for the extreme enthusiasts such as ourselves, 2133MHz memory is a must, and whilst the Evo Corsa doesn’t offer fantastically tight timings, it’s about average for an 8GB 2133MHz kit and that’s why choosing a memory module kit can be quite a hard choice in this day and age.
Something that can make a set of modules stand out, is how it fairs when overclocked, and this kit certainly stood out from the crowd by having a respectable increase in speed whilst keeping the stock voltage and timings that the SPD instructed.
Another area that a memory kit can really stand out is how well it is priced and the typical price point for an 8GB set of DDR3 2133MHZ memory is around £90 upwards, and with this kit coming in priced at £73 at CCL Online it’s definitely a real bargain and with only a very select few retailers stocking the memory set, we feel that as this kit hits the market, more retailers may take it on to help push the price down further making this one of the most affordable yet high performing kits on the shelves.
