Gelid Solutions Black Edition CPU Cooler Review

From the front we can see the Slim 12 fan is specially coated black for the purposes of “The Black Edition” naming scheme. This fan is based off the Slim 12 UV Blue case fan which you can buy from Gelid Solutions individually.
The Black Edition is actually a slim CPU cooler, especially in comparison to dual tower monstrosities like the Evercool Silent Shark, Noctua NH-D14 and Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2.
The back gives you a little glimpse of just how dense the heatsink is, which is good as it means more performance if the airflow is there. It is also worth noting you can mount a third fan to this side AND Gelid include the fan clips for you to do so.
From the top view the three 8mm and four 6mm heat pipes are clearly visible.
From the bottom it appears there are only five heat pipes. However, a closer look shows the sixth and seventh heat pipes are stacked above the bottom five. You can see this more clearly in the first and third images. The base is very nicely done, pure copper, very flat and wide enough to tackle larger CPU die sizes like LGA 2011.
