As mentioned, we used two different fan profiles. Clearly the one which delivers more performance also delivered more noise.

When overclocking comes into play the higher speed fan profile is still competitive alongside similar coolers like the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 and the Sapphire Vapor-X. It just goes to show that the default PWM profiles aren’t always best although they do best represent out of the box performance.

I think what these results show is that the Gelid Solutions Black Edition CPU cooler can do high performance or total silence AND if you are willing to spend some time tweaking fan profiles then you can devise the best compromise between both silence and performance. It certainly is a very versatile cooler and if you add a third fan then the potential is there for even more airflow with less noise, but of course at extra expense.
