Are you tired of being limited to humble pictures, or even not so humble pictures with a dozen filters on? Whichever is your poison, how does the idea of video content to Instagram make you feel?
Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom spoke to FT, explaining that they’ll soon be adding video features, no doubt in response to every other major platform now having video clips and live streaming capabilities as part of their deal.
“Live is really exciting for us,” Systrom said. “I think it can enhance what we’re doing. If I’m trying to strengthen relationships with someone I love, them streaming video to me live would be an amazing way to be closer to them.”
Some leaked images already show what looks like browsable live streams, but how the feature will function on release remains to be seen. However, given that Facebook already own Instagram, a link between the two services live streaming capabilities wouldn’t be surprising.
