When Ghostbusters The Video Game was released in 2009 it was something of a hugely unexpected hit for fans. While it didn’t exactly come in under the radar, many considered it to be much, much better than it had any right to be. In fact, even 10 years on, it’s still a pretty awesome game to play.
In a report via Eurogamer, however, a rating application listing in Taiwan has given a very strong indication that a remaster may be on the way!
The listing ( as can be seen above) does confirm an official rating application for a remaster of the 2009 game. If this is true, it would be a welcome (yet entirely unexpected) announcement.
As above, the game was much better than many thought it would be. With a little spit and polish (and maybe a few fixes and additions), however, there is definitely room for the game to get even better.
The games plot seemed to follow a lot of what Dan Ackroyd had spoken about for many years. He was, after all, always very talkative about the third film. Namely Ghostbusters 3 (aka Ghostbusters in Hell).
Given that the game featured the original voice cast and a script which both Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis had worked on, to many this really was the third instalment and canon in the eyes of the franchise.
That being said, however, don’t forget that another film (seemingly acting as an official 3rd part) is due for release at some point over the next couple of years!
If you have ever played the 2009 original though, any news of a remaster is undoubtedly going to be good! I mean, who was expecting this?…
We are, of course, awaiting official confirmation. With E3 2019 not far away, however, don’t be surprised if this crosses your gaming streams in the very near future!
