With the upcoming release of Intel’s new 13th-gen Raptor Lake processors being expected around September/October this year, it does seem likely (if not guaranteed) that the vast majority of existing 600-series motherboards will offer full support for the new CPU models via a new BIOS update. – They do, after all, share the same LGA1700 socket platform meaning that, aside from perhaps some exclusions with high-end models, near full compatibility should be available.
This will, of course though, require users to update their BIOS to ensure that their existing 600-series motherboard has all the data necessary to recognise the new processors. And following an announcement from Gigabyte, it appears that their new BIOS update for Intel Raptor Lake should be arriving at practically any moment!
As part of the announcement, Gigabyte has confirmed that new BIOS updates will be released for all of their existing Z690, B660, and H610 series motherboards which will look to add support for the upcoming release of Intel’s new 13th-gen Raptor Lake processors. – The only mild question mark is exactly when this will be released with Gigabyte suggesting that it will be in the near future, but with them not going as far as to any exact date.
If you do, however, want to keep an eye on the latest Gigabyte BIOS updates, you can check out their official support website via the link here!
