Price
The Gigabyte Aire M93 ICE is available from Overclockers.co.uk for just £34.99. This is a reasonable price for a wireless mouse, and it’s about on par with similar specification mice, even if most of them are also made by Gigabyte.
Overview
The sensor performance on the Gigabyte Aire M93 ICE may not be the greatest ever, but it was never designed to be. It’s not here to take over the gaming world with its tracking prowess, but it is designed to do one particular job very well. If you find yourself travelling a lot, you can often find yourself working in a wide range of places. One day you’re working in a hotel room, another you’re working while sitting on your couch, in a coffee shop or in a factory. It really doesn’t matter where you’re working, what does matter is the surface you use your mouse on can change daily. The M93 sensor will work virtually anywhere and this is a big win for those who need to pack light. You won’t need to pack a mouse mat, and speaking from my own experience, even when you do have a mouse mat with you, you don’t always have space for one where you’re sitting.
The Aire M93 ICE is well made, the mouse feels durable and the ergonomics are comfortable for long hours of use. The mouse does feel a little heavy, but that is to be expected given that it has a battery inside. A custom internal battery could have kept the weight down, but would have easily put the price up and removed the option for replacing the battery if and when it fails.
There are a few tricks on this mouse that I like, such as the little recess under the battery cover; perfect for storing the USB dongle. It would be nice if the USB cable was retractable into the mouse, although it’s no big deal if you leave the cable at home, battery life will last you days and microUSB cable aren’t exactly hard to find when you need one. The 4-way scroll button is also a welcome features, a lot of mice in this price range don’t feature this.
Pros
Cons
“The Gigabyte Aire M93 ICE is a versatile mouse that is ideal for those who travel a lot. Although it’s a nice option if you’ve already got too many cables on your desk and just need to free up a little more space. The sensor may not excite those interested in PC gaming, but for day to day office task, the M93 is a great to work with and the fact the sensor works on so many surfaces types is a big bonus.”
