Gigabyte have just released their latest AMD motherboards for the upcoming FM2+ socket and Kaveri APUs. These new motherboards use a brand new A88X chipset and while AMD APUs are currently not available, these motherboards still support current generation Trinity and Richland APUs, though of course not Llano as this had a very different pin-layout to FM2 as it was FM1. Gigabyte’s two offerings are both high end and the cheaper models will come at a later date or on the launch of AMD’s Kaveri – naturally there is no point in Gigabyte retailing the budget offerings yet because enthusiasts that want to buy motherboards in advance of the new AMD APUs coming out are unlikely to use such budget offerings.
The G1.Sniper A88X includes Gigabytes AMP-Up audio and a variety of other audio features. Both motherboards use UEFI DualBIOS, Digital Power delivery and have Triple Display support. As these motherboards are both FM2+ and A88X they will both support upcoming AMD FM2+ APUs, dubbed Kaveri, which use Steamroller CPU cores and have PCIe Gen 3.0 support. Additionally they will use GCN GPUs with DX11.1 support and native 4K support over HDMI and DisplayPort.
