Even though there are rumours circulating about the GTX 1080Ti launching in early January, this doesn’t appear to have impacted on the GTX 1080’s popularity. Granted, there has been a lack of new products of late and graphics card partners will likely focus their efforts on the upcoming GTX 1050/GTX 1050Ti budget offerings. Despite this, Gigabyte has decided to revisit high-end Pascal and unleash a brand new, extreme-grade GTX 1080. The GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Waterforce features a full cover water block with a copper base surrounding the GPU, VRMs and power area.
Not only that, the product has LEDs integrated into the water block which allows you to choose between a huge range of stunning colours as well as various effects. The graphics card contains an extra HDMI port to make it easy to connect virtual reality equipment. Apparently, this model opts for chokes seen on the Titan X and has a substantial 12+2 power phase design.
As per usual for Gigabyte’s Xtreme Gaming series, the product includes two profiles with different operating speeds. Firstly, the more conservative gaming BIOS is based on a 1759MHz base and 1898MHz boost while the OC profile has a 1784MHz base and 1936MHz boost. To leverage the maximum performance, Gigabyte used two 8-pin PCI-E connectors. Here we can see some additional shots of the graphics card’s stylish design:
Unfortunately, Gigabyte hasn’t divulged any information on the price point but I’m expecting it to be one of the most expensive GTX 1080 cards on the market. Honestly, I’m really fond of the design and wish I had the funds to install this monster in my personal rig.
