Yesterday, we got our first look at the Gigabyte GTX 1080 XTREME Gaming, the top end GP104 based card from the company. Unfortunately, Gigabyte isn’t quite ready show that card off just yet but they do have something to launch with the first wave. To tide us over during the wait, we have the Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming, a cheaper but still potent alternative.
Like its more powerful sibling, the GTX 1080 G1 also features a triple fan cooling solution. This is a new design from Gigabyte’s WindForce technology and slots in just fine at just a tiny bit over 2 slots it seems. Unfortunately, Gigabyte hasn’t shared any details about clock speeds but it will be factory overclocked. The biggest disappointment is that the G1 only has a single 8pin PCIe power connector. While Gigabyte has undoubtedly raised the power limit compared to the Founders Edition, overclocking may still be hampered.
Despite being cheaper, the G1 still features RGB Spectrum, Gigabyte’s LED solution. This will allow for user controlled LEDs for the fans and logo but the orange streaks on the shroud are likely there to stay. We expect more information from Gigabyte on the GTX 1080 XTREME Gaming from Computex so stay tuned!
