In addition to the new AORUS X7 DT v7, another model has been displayed which is dubbed as the “world’s most powerful 15.6-inch laptop”. This particular unit utilises an Intel Core i7-7820HK with a default frequency range between 2.9-3.9GHz as well as DDR4 2400MHz memory with capacities up to 64GB. Additionally, the laptop comes with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and an extremely fast M.2 NVMe SSD. As you can see from the product card below, the laptop supports Thunderbolt 3 connectivity which can be useful to attach an external graphics enclosure or drive dual 4K displays. Also, the Kaby Lake architecture supports HEVC 10b and VP9 hardware encode/decode resulting in a 10% performance improvement compared to the previous generation.
From a visuals standpoint, the laptop is stunning and opts for a sleek, neutral design with customisation through the per-key backlight illumination. Personally, I felt the keys felt were pleasant to type on and the laptop’s build quality appears very robust. When you consider the impressive specification and portable 15.6-inch form factor, the laptop is looking quite promising and certainly left a lasting impression during the press briefing.
