Gigabyte Reveals Aorus GA-AX370-Gaming K7 Ryzen AM4 Motherboard

With Ryzen and various AM4 motherboard available for pre-orders, AMD’s partners have opened up about their new boards. Now that AMD has a competitive CPU again, we are seeing some much-needed love to bring the red team up to par in terms of features. One of the top motherboards for this first wave of X370 motherboards is Gigabyte’s GA-AX370-Gaming K7.

As you might expect from the Aorus lineup, we are getting a lot of RGB LED lighting strewn in various strategic corners. There are even 2 light strip headers for adding your own customizations. For overclocking, we have adequate VRM heatsinks and plenty of phases. Gigabyte has even thrown in a third party clock generator and dual-BIOS in case you screw up. Network connectivity is provided by Intel Gigabit and Killer E5200.

Features

  • Supports New Generation AMD Ryzen™ Processors
  • Dual Channel Non-ECC Unbuffered DDR4, 4 DIMMs
  • Turbo B-Clock, Built-in Advanced Performance Tuning IC
  • Fast 4 USB 3.1 Gen 2 with USB Type-C™ and Type-A
  • 2-Way Graphics Support with Dual Armor and Ultra Durable™ Design
  • NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 U.2 Connector
  • Ultra-Fast M.2 with PCIe Gen3 x4 & SATA interface
  • Creative® Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 support
  • Dual ALC 1220 with Front & Rear 120dB SNR HD Audio with Dual Smart Headphone Amps
  • Killer™ E2500 Gaming Network + Intel® Gigabit LAN
  • USB DAC-UP 2 & 4 Front USB 3.0 Ports with Adjustable Voltage
  • RGB FUSION with Multi-Zone LED Light Show design
  • Swappable Overlay for Accent LED
  • Smart Fan 5 features 9 Temperature Sensors and 8 Hybrid Fan Headers
  • 2 External Thermistors Headers with 2 Included Thermistors
  • GIGABYTE UEFI DualBIOS™
  • APP Center Including EasyTune™ and Cloud Station™ Utilities

One notable feature is the use of two Realtek ALC1220 audio codecs. One drives the rear output while another supports the front panel connection. The goal is to provide the same consistent audio quality when either connection is used or even when both are active. Of course, we also have the now near ubiquitous EMI shielding and higher end audio capacitors.

Being promoted to a first-class citizen is doing wonders for AMD and it shows. After years of stagnating on AM3+ and updates far and in between, it’s a pleasant surprise when we see X370 getting the star treatment.
